LLMs can't draw carabiners

I thought it would be cool if I created an icon on my site that reflected my favorite sport, climbing.

So I tried to use the image generating LLMs, like ChatGPT/DALL-E and Midjourney, to create a quick icon of a carabiner.

As you can see below, things didn't go well. I'm sure I could improve the effort with better prompts or perhaps by starting a real image, but I switched to drawing boulders instead.

OpenAI/DALL-E 2

Prompts:

• carabiner icon
• closed carabiner
• wire-gate carabiner

Prompt photorealistic carabiner.

I wouldn't want to climb with this one!

Here's the best one, although it looks more like a quick link with a gate instead of a thumb screw.

Midjourney

Midjourney didn't do any better, although they do look shiny!
